Neutral Density (ND) filters are designed to reduce transmission evenly across a portion of the spectrum. The metallic coatings on one side of the filter provide a nearly constant amount of transmitted energy over a wide visible and near infrared waveband. The second polished side is broadband AR coated with R <0.5%.
